Here we are... (again)

It's not September, but somehow it's fall... kids are at day two, which brings us to day... one (well one-ish).

8:30AM and I stand with 5 fantastic women... Feels like we're missing a few (not counting our fallen injured duo). One call to a sleepy Shan and she's out the door, standing/running with us in 3 min. flat (crazy impressive).

Luckily for all our legs everyone had taken a slight summer vacation. There was no leaving anyone in the dust, just a sweet cluster of chatty friends.

Our usual talkative selves were huffing a tad more, than say our March selves. With that said.... We did it. We all showed up with laced up shoes and attitudes that could lift the lowest of spirits.

The next week or so we'll be keeping our pace and miles on the low side. Plenty of time to build up to our pending 10k, half marathon, 25k, marathon, and or 50k goals.

**

If you've ever thought about running with a group (**this group**)... Great time to join in!!! We meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 AM in the parking lot of San Juan Island Fitness!!
Hope to see you there!

Trial run.

Slowly, we are trading in beach towels and bathing suits....

Alarms are silenced and lazy legs are in motion. Waking anxious darlings and filling them with oatmeal and eggs for their first day back to school. I lace up my new (they're going) back to school tennies and continue with the curling of locks and finding of socks (unintentional rhyming).

With a kiss and a wave and a reminder to "make good choices"... We start our days.

Broken toe-ed BooBoo and I meet, to see how important that tiny toe of hers really is, and if I can run at all after such a long break.

Three blocks up, BooBoo decides that it's too painful... one block up she decides to keep at it, so she could finish her story (besides at my pace it's all manageable). Three miles of ignoring sore toes and out of condition legs, we finish with a "that wasn't so bad" shrug.

feeling a bit whale(ish)

Ten more days till the Winthrop marathon (still deciding on running the half or the whole) nine miles are meant for today, but first I've got an eager 7 year old to go get her Pinniped knowledge on.

Running in the afternoon can almost always be a little low on the motivated side.  Turns out spending the morning with a group of first graders and eating a cookie the size of ones head, makes it even harder to muster.

Holding my bag of appropriately spandexy/weather resistant uniform.  I kicked my heals trying to think of reasons/excuses not to run (besides the obvious *I don't wanna*).  Didn't work.  Luckily theres always a Shannon.  And better yet, she's just as tired.

Kathleen (bird counter friend), looking fresh (again, attempting to come up with some emergency that has come up and I've got to leave now) meets up with us.  With a sideways look from Shannon as if to say "not an option".  We head off on our way.

Blue bird only has an hour so pear point we head.  Somewhere around mile five my legs wake up and there's a compromise of walking up the pending steep hill, in replacement of ending at six miles with Kathleen.

We wave our "see you soon" and continue to the hill, and added miles.  Legs falling back to tired, we distract each other with funny.  Laughing at each others dorkiness the time passes quicker.

Starting to walk, Miss Sideways decides we should run the trail cutting out the so called *steep hill*.  Sounds like an alright trade.  You'd think.

In the end, both happy we put our runners on.  Had a chance to chat (minus children) , laugh at each other and meet our goals.  So I suppose that counts as a good run!

WEATHER or not.

We don't get much snow round here.

So when we woke up to a whole 2 inches, we dressed in our warmest.
Met in our usual spot, just a tad later and headed out.

Ducking into the woods, proved to be added entertainment.

Six miles of goofing off.
Easily the funnest run We've done all year (yes, I know it's January)!!

Happy New Years.... and stuff.

Firstly, a small reminder to register now for the MARCH 25th RLR 10K & HALF MARATHON. we're only 82 days away!!

It's Jan. 3rd which means RESOLUTIONS!! I'm a big fan, perhaps it's the lists that you get to write, organized with little boxes and rows.  Or the simple part where your vision of a better you is only a few goals away.  It's hopeful.

So with the new year and a long lists of boxes you get to check off.  A calendar full of Marathons, 10Ks, 25Ks and a possible 50K... all point to lacing up our shoes.

Today's run was staggered.  Four girls starting early (life insisting), Jenny and I a tad later.  We ran short, and probable a bit slow, but all the christmas sweets in our blood are just happy we got out there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
HAPPY RUNNING
Hears to a year full of a healthier happier you!
